Claire Barrett, Founder and English Specialist

Claire read English at Hertford College, Oxford and went on to complete her PGCE and MSc in Education at Oxford, followed by doctoral research at the UCL Institute of Education.

She has over twenty years' experience teaching GCSE English and A Level English Language, English Literature and combined English Language and Literature. Until very recently she taught full time in a UK school.

As an AQA A Level examiner and an Edexcel iGCSE examiner, Claire knows exactly what examiners look for. She brings that insight into every lesson, so students understand not just what to write, but why it earns marks.

Claire has a long-standing commitment to home education. As well as home-educating her own six children, she founded and directed a home education centre and has taught many home-educated students one-to-one and in small groups.
